Each of us who cares about the world we live in is the dreamer.
We are connected in our common purpose, the “Good Dream”, of an earth, healthy, alive and respect and care for all creatures that live here.

Created after a walk in an old forest by the ocean where I felt nature bringing me into it’s mystery and blessing me. This piece was created to strengthen the connections I feel between the earth and myself.

“She Flies by Night” (Psyche) is a winged moth like creature who sees in the dark and is a symbol of my intuitive approach to creation making. She moves through dreams, gathering seeds of possibilities for new ideas.       private collection

Uprooted • Spinning Wheel • From the Heart

size: ” 7 X 13 ”(each) - fibre, mixed media       •click on each image for a close up

This triptych is about transformation. So often our self is planted in another's reality. A search for our truth will lead us to uproot. This causes confusion, a sense of out of control, like a spinning wheel. Eventually this quest brings us to know ourselves better and to live authentically.    private collection

Inspired by Coyote, the Trickster of Native lore I used images of real coyotes to work from. He’s a storyteller who especially enjoys the tall tales. His amber eyes and scruffy nature are very endearing somehow and I'm still wondering some days where he came from.

Seal WomanSeal Woman

A small "fits in the palm of your hand" doll inspired by stories of the selkies, or seal women. Their skins were stolen and they were kept in human form as wives until they are reunited one day with their own true nature, their seal skin.

Many gifts lie dormant in each of us until circumstances bring them out. My gift of teaching was such a gift. The image of the spiral inside and outside in the doll helped to articulate my desire to teach from the heart.

Created as a way to pray for a friend who had died too soon, I focused on all the wonderful attributes that my friend has and what I learnt from her. It was surprisingly peaceful to work on. The doll made herself.

Created to honour all the women who have influenced my life and have crossed over. Some of them I have known, others have influenced me through their writings or art left behind. They have now become the “Voice of the Grandmothers” which in times of difficulty soothe and guide.

The term “fishwife” is a derogatory one used to silence someone. I began to work with it in a positive way as one who knows what they need and are not afraid to voice it. The themes imbedded in the piece speak of identity and the sea, with a fish mouth in the mask, relics from the shoreline and a mermaid all woven together to create a tale of integrity and individuality.

Occasionally I will create a piece that mystifies me and defies explanation.
Shapeshifter is such a piece. “Guide” and “Protector” is as close as I get to definition.

Permission

size: 4” X 7”       •click on the image for a close up

The first doll I ever created intuitively. I was fascinated by how she formed on her own, very differently from what I thought I was creating. She was a little piece of my self. I named her “Permission” to allow myself to continue to explore this new way of creating.
